Car Hire Agreement
Every vehicle hire is governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance provisions, fees, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Carshalton, drivers must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may vary depending on the vehicle type, with potential extra fees for those under 25. A valid driving licence appropriate for the vehicle category is required, along with proof of identity and current address. Valid payment information and a security deposit must also be provided, alongside any additional requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be arranged via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Carshalton office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are usually payable upon collecting the vehicle. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT when applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment systems.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be created and signed by both parties. Please return the vehicle in the same state as it was received, accounting for standard wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. The vehicle should also be returned with the same fuel level as when it was collected; refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may result in extra charges, so please notify us as soon as possible if you foresee a delay. You are liable for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, along with a corresponding administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. Comprehensive coverage information and excess amounts can be found in your Rental Agreement. You may choose to purchase additional insurance to lower your financial liability. It's important to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless further coverage is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse is your responsibility, regardless of any insurance in place.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For specific information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rented Vehicle
- Use of the vehicle for any illegal activities is prohibited. Activities such as racing, rallying, or off-roading, as well as transporting hazardous materials, are not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is strictly forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. The vehicle must only be used for its intended purposes, and passenger or weight limits must not be exceeded. Driving outside of the agreed geographical limits requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, that may arise from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the total amount paid for your rental in the past year. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of the relevant courts in England and Wales.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon their publication on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
